Will the State of Texas Outlaw City Climate Plans?
As we bounce from drought to flood, from scorching heat to bone chilling cold, from drenching tropical storms to snow and ice from the polar vortex some Texas lawmakers still have their head in the sand when it comes to climate change.
Senate Bill 1261 by Senator Birdwell would prevent cities and other local governments from taking action to mitigate climate change. In the absence of state level policy to address climate change, city efforts are essential.
This misguided bill is up for consideration in the Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Economic Development.
Urge the committee members to vote NO on SB 1261.
